IRLControl watches the bitrate of your relay and switches OBS for you: to a low-bitrate scene when the signal gets weak, to a BRB scene when it drops, and back to your live scene when it recovers. It runs in OBS as a browser source and signs in with your IRLServer account, so there is nothing to download.
Before you start
You need OBS already receiving your stream from IRLServer. If you have not set that up yet, follow the OBS setup guide first. Your endpoint page on irl.ac can also give you a ready-made scene collection with LIVE, LOW and BRB scenes, which is exactly what the scene switcher needs.
Connect IRLControl to OBS
Sign in to IRLControl with your IRLServer account and create a rig. Choose OBS as the app. The rig opens on its Setup tab, which walks you through three steps and ticks each one when it works:
- In OBS, open Tools, WebSocket Server Settings. Tick Enable WebSocket server and leave Enable Authentication on.
- In the same window, click Show Connect Info, copy the Server Password and save it on the Setup tab.
- In OBS, add a Browser source and paste the URL from the Setup tab. Set it to 300 by 200, or tick Hide overlay UI in OBS.
The page tells you what is wrong
You do not have to guess. The status line on the Setup tab says whether the browser source is missing, whether it cannot reach OBS, or whether OBS rejected the password.
Point the scene switcher at your endpoint
Open the Scene Switcher tab and tick Enable automatic scene switching.
- Under the bitrate source, pick your endpoint. If you are streaming right now, the region you stream through is already selected.
- Choose your Normal scene, Low scene and Offline scene, for example LIVE, LOW and BRB.
- Check the thresholds. Low bitrate (kbps) starts at 800 and Low RTT (ms) at 2500; raise or lower them after a test walk on your usual route.
- Click Save.
From then on, OBS follows your signal. Your broadcast on Twitch or Kick stays up, because OBS keeps streaming while it shows the BRB scene.
Chat commands and moderators
Turn on the Twitch chat bot in the same tab. Make the bot a moderator in your channel with the /mod command the page shows. Moderators can then run !switch, !fix, !trigger, !start and !stop from chat.
To give a moderator the controls without sharing your account, create a moderator link on the Setup tab. Pick the controls they get and when the link expires, and revoke it whenever you want.

FAQ
- Do I still need NOALBS?
- No. IRLControl does the scene switching itself, so you do not download or run anything next to OBS. NOALBS still works if you prefer it; the endpoint page on irl.ac has its setup too.
- Which endpoints can the scene switcher use?
- SRT/SRTLA endpoints on your IRLServer account, and ones shared with you. RTMP endpoints are not listed.
- OBS shows the browser source but IRLControl says it cannot reach OBS. What now?
- The Setup tab says which step is missing. Usually the WebSocket server is off, or the saved password is not the one OBS shows under Show Connect Info. Save the right password and the browser source picks it up within a few seconds.
